Berkeley Fire initially told KRON4 that one person had been taken into custody. However, at a later press briefing, Oakland PD Assistant Chief Casey Johnson said that no one was in custody.

The man and woman who were shot were both residents of the home, police said. They appeared to be married. A firearm was also found at the scene.

Although neither person was identified, police said the man was 61 and the woman was 63.

Both individuals were found outside of the home, OPD said.

Oakland police said both the Oakland Police Department and Berkeley Police Departments responded Friday after a neighbor heard gunshots.

The Oakland PD Homicide Unit is investigating the incident.

Video of the scene from the Citizen app showed a large police presence at the location with several Berkeley PD units. The location, in the Oakland Hills, is not far from the UC Berkeley campus.

The UC Berkeley Police Department issued an advisory, saying there was "Ongoing police investigation for shooting on Panoramic Way in Oakland this morning."

UCB police said that while there was no ongoing threat to the campus, there would be increased police activity in the area.

Oakland police emphasized that there was no ongoing threat to the neighborhood.
