A man was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide in connection with a multi-vehicle crash in Oxnard that left two people dead and four others injured last week, police said Friday.

The collision involving eight vehicles was reported at Victoria and Doris avenues just before 4 p.m. on Sept. 25, according to the Oxnard Police Department.

Officials say the preliminary investigation indicates 29-year-old Santa Paula resident David Mora was driving a 2018 GMC Sierra pickup north on Victoria when he ran a red light at Doris and crashed with a 1998 Toyota Avalon and a 2005 Honda Civic, both going west through the intersection on a green light.

The drivers, described as Oxnard men ages 31 and 58, were trapped inside their cars and died at the scene. Four people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, the Oxnard Police Department said.

Mora was taken into custody after turning himself in at the police department around 8 p.m. Friday.

Four vehicles had major damage from the crash, officials said.
