Fatal SR-160 crash involving semi-truck shuts down highway near Sherman Island

State Route 160 was shut down in both directions near Sherman Island Cross Road early Sunday morning following a fatal collision involving a semi-truck and a utility trailer, according to California Highway Patrol.

The crash was first reported at around 5:31 a.m. as a head-on collision, with a semi-truck and utility trailer blocking all lanes.

The CHP later confirmed a fatality and requested the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, chaplain services, and an evidence tow for a black Ford F-150 and utility trailer.

Both northbound and southbound lanes of SR-160 were closed while investigators processed the scene. Traffic was turned around on both sides of the closure, including near the Antioch Bridge. Air operations responded to assist investigators.

One person was transported to NorthBay Medical Center, according to the CHP. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.

As of approximately 7:38 a.m., CHP logs indicated the driver of a Ford F-250 had been identified. No additional information on the victim, injuries, or cause of the crash was immediately available.
